Vision Africa (VA) was borne out of the doctoral thesis of Bishop Dr. Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha. Later, 25 years ago, the organization was established to springboard the ideas gleaned from his dissertation into physical community work – anchored on a unique model of volunteerism and humanitarianism.
Our operational Headquarters is in Dallas Texas, managed by Board Members We have a field office in Nigeria, housing the Radio station at Umuahia, Abia state, with a broad spectrum of project partners that facilitate our reach to the grassroots.
Vision Africa radio 104.1FM programming in Nigeria is an initiative aimed at fostering spiritual wholesomeness, service, benevolent care, information dissemination and strategic advocacy for sustainable development, particularly at the grassroots.
Our Outreach Unit Vision Africa Life Advancement Initiative, (VALAI) has leveraged this electromagnetic-wave platform to: provide gender sensitive health information to youths, implement community-based social-good programs, provide capacity building and advocacy to faith leaders to address crisis and insecurity as well as nurture broad-based partnerships with international and local organizations.
At Vision Africa, it is our hope that we can continually increase our ability to create and share more of God’s unfailing love in this world, as we collectively help to expand and deepen community action in support of peace, healing and succour in our local communities. Our Medical Outreach efforts is aimed at bringing free and accessible healthcare services to different stakeholders, especially women and children. We collaborate with qualified medical personnel, through our volunteer model; who speak the local dialect of the people as they address issues one on-one and in an atmosphere that is non judgmental and unbiased.
Medical teams, including US doctors volunteering their time, typically see 200 to 300 patients each day, as we spend three days at every location; providing professional services including diagnosis, consultation and medications, at no cost to the villagers.
The annual Vision Africa Media Institute training continues to offer free online and in-person trainings attracting media practitioners, students/interns from surrounding universities and Media organizations, as well as Radio Ministers.
Our training faculty is made up of global professionals from the US, Canada and Africa.

AOMH project is in partnership with US medical Institutions, who with their technical support we can have an exchange program developed on tropical medicine research in the facility.
When completed, we hope that the benefitting community does not need to await our annual medical mission crew, but enjoy the benefit of constant, accessible and free community health services.
Through our Prison outreach in Umuahia, we continue to negotiate for better prison conditions for inmates, provide small grants for renovations and urgent needs, pay WAEC fees for interested inmates, and supply provisions for their everyday use.
Every year, in collaboration with the Umuahia Correctional Custodial (Prison) Centre, VA funds and implements what is now known as NICOS YARD CHAMPIONS LEAGUE; a football tournament designed to engage the inmates constructively. Every year, the league culminates in a final, played between VA-Waves FC and the winner of the NICOS league. An impressive entertainment and bonding period for the inmates.
Through this project we provide support, refurbishment, renovation and supply of equipment such as generators to Uzuakoli Motherless Babies home, Ahiaeke Motherless Babies home and Amaudo Itumbauzo mentally destitute home.
Our goal under this initiative is to present God’s love as revealed in Jesus Christ, as we respond creatively to the spiritual, cultural, economic and social needs of African communities; and to provide structure and information through which the global community can identify areas of social-good ministry in Africa; supporting and equipping pulpit-managers for effective ministry in the African context.
We partner with the Methodist Church Nigeria to present bibles to every graduating ordinand as they move out into their local regions/communities of service to continue their ministry
We seek to expand and deepen community action in support of interfaith understanding and peace in our local communities, by breaking down barriers between communities, religions and regions, which will ultimately improve transparency and peaceful coexistence. dialogue.
Our programs include the ‘Colloquium on Sacredness of Life’, Interfaith meeting with the Muslim community, Virtual (Zoom) meetings on Interfaith relations, and meetings with Police and other pseudo-security agencies in Abia state.
My Stain No shame Project is a menstrual hygiene initiative for secondary school students. This year, we piggy-bagged on the International Day for the Girl-child 2021 to visit schools and distribute sanitary pads, OTC medicines for menstrual cramps, as well as first aid items for the schools.
Unfortunately, young people seldom find ‘spaces’ to openly discuss their pubertal and general life experiences. Opportunities like these provide them with structured sexuality education, accurate information and knowledge regarding their sexuality and this helps students to be more confident, open minded, optimistic and knowledgeable.
Protect The Children Campaign is part of our Sexuality education program that aims at preventing sexual abuse and providing young persons with social support and a safe space to break the silence against paedophiles and sexual predators Our overarching goal is to create an enabling environment that reflects an understanding of, and a sensitivity to the needs and concerns of children and young people.
The VA-Choir is a non-denominational City Mass Choir, organized to perform contemporary African Gospel music of varying genre; with the objective of creating a training ground for singers, instrumentalists and dancers, and a decent friendly atmosphere to engage young people positively thereby keeping them away from social vices and crime.
Our Choir has become a rallying point for choice gospel musician in the city, a platform for Musicians in the city to express their giftings and for grooming and musical talents. The Choir is a regular feature at our special seasonal events, occasions and collaborative music/carol outings.
The Football club that engages young men who come to our fields to play soccer 3 times a week. Providing an outlet to mingle and be entertained has been our pleasure as these young men fellowship with one another, and for some of them, this gives a sense of belonging that we feel privileged to provide to the indigent youth.
The “Radio Boys” also compete with the winning team in the Prison (Custodial) league after the pay offs. Vision Africa sponsors the finals, played inside the Prison compounds, to the delight and entertainment of the inmates, as well as our ‘Boys’.
